Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our first Racial Literacy Parent Forum this morning. It was wonderful to share the work currently happening in school and to start an open dialogue about what else we should consider, as well as the importance of sharing experiences. The recent hurricane in Jamaica has caused catastrophic damage across the Caribbean, severely impacting children and families.
1.6 million children are at risk after torrential rain, strong winds, and landslides destroyed homes, flooded communities, and cut essential services, including communications and transport. The hurricane is the strongest to hit Jamaica in nearly 50 years.
Many families and members of staff have been personally affected by these events and as a school we want to help.
On Wednesday 17th December, we will be holding a fundraising event and we are inviting children to wear green, yellow or black to school for a £1 donation.
We will also be holding a cake sale and donation drive after school at 3.15pm in the playground.
We are looking for donations of cakes for the cake sale (please remember we are a nut free school) but we are also looking for: toiletries, non-perishable foods (such as rice, tinned fish) and pencils, paper pads, small card games for children.
Please bring cakes to the school office prior to the cake sale (please label with ingredients) and donations to the playground after school at 3.15pm on Wednesday 17th December.

PINS SEND Parent Champions Briefing for Schools
As part of the Parent Participation work taking place in the Primary schools who are part the PINS project.
One of the areas we would like to develop is to have a small team of parent champions in each school who will act as the link between each school and their school community.
We would like to invite you to a briefing on line where we will tell you about the role of being a parent champion.
We are looking for 2-3 parent/carers in each school who would be willing to volunteer 2-5 hours a week or month to meet with other parents telling them about services for children and young people with SEND such as:

· Training to assist them to move toward developing your confidence and skills
· Experience that will support you toward new goals and employment
· You will become better informed and equipped in your own role as parents and working in partnership,

On Wednesday, we welcomed parents and carers for an Oracy Open Morning led by Greenwich speech and language therapists. The session included strategies we use in school and sparked brilliant discussions. Slides and resources from the session are available below.

Parents from our school community are holding a bake sale in the playground after school on Monday 17th November at 3.15pm for World Prematurity Day with all money raised to be donated to multiple charities including Bliss and Ronald McDonald House.
